YOGA NIDRA
An Effortless State of Being
Welcome Home To Yourself
Switch off and give your hard working, overstimulated brain a break.
I choose to teach a style of meditation that is nourishing and healing. Yoga nidra promotes deep rest and relaxation that is not found in your average meditation practice and is more refreshing than deep sleep. Considered the meditative heart of Yoga, yoga nidra offers the possibility of deep transformation where you enter the enchanting space between waking and dreaming. It moves your body and your consciousness into an altered state of deep rest and rejuvenation.
The Science Behind the healing
When you begin Yoga Nidra, your brain is generally in an active state of beta waves, a natural transitional experience as you start to slow down and press pause on your day.
The meditative practice then takes you into an alpha state, the brain wave frequency that links conscious thought with the subconscious mind. In alpha state Serotonin is released, which helps you to reach a transformational experience of inner calm. From this place fluctuations in the mind start to decrease and you begin to feel more at ease. The body moves into stillness and a deep feeling of tranquillity and relaxation occurs. Following deeper into the practice the brain will then begin to emit delta waves, mimicking what happens when we enter a deep restful sleep.

Steph is so warm and welcoming and delivers yoga nidra in such a beautiful way, that incorporates the harmonium and her sweet singing voice. It is more than just a yoga nidra class – Steph has created a sanctuary where our community gather, share and enjoy each other’s company. I highly recommend!

Wow! What an incredibly powerful nidra you so generously offered us last night. You saved the best until last, and finished on such a flourish – really it’s pretty hard to find the right words to offer that do it justice. Needless to say, it was pretty impactful for me. Incredible visualisations and extraordinary words. Magnificent!
